River stone, rattan

6 in. L × 4 in. W × 2 in. H

Elongated river stone, beige-gray with dark veining, bound mid-body by pale rattan that rises into a tight coil on the crown. No base, no hardware. The wrap is the only added work.

Wabi-sabi as used here: found form left intact, fiber showing the hand that bound it. Sculpture or paperweight.

Susan Whigham Works with found stone and plant fiber. This piece is two materials only—pebble and rattan—held by wrapping.
