Italian studio vase
Ceramic, two-tone glaze with red accent
Stamped ITALY on the foot
6.5 in. diameter × 7 in. H
Near-spherical vessel with a small circular mouth. The upper half is a dark, glossy glaze with faint impressed squares under the surface; it breaks in an irregular line over a sandy tan body that lightens toward the foot. A single glazed red disk sits on the horizon between the two fields—read as a sun, a planet, or a simple graphic mark. The underside is tan with light crazing and a stamped country-of-origin mark.
Mid-century Italian export pottery in the sfera taste: simple geometry, high-contrast color, and a single decorative accent rather than overall pattern. Unsigned beyond ITALY. A short hairline is visible in the tan band on one face; noted for accuracy.
