Austrian Jugendstil / Vienna Secession Brass Box

Stamped Austria · c. 1900–1915

7 × 6 × 5 in.

Pressed-brass casket with a gently arched lid, finished in a warm antique bronze patina. The surface is fully worked in high-relief Secessionist ornament: a central heart lock plate with concentric spirals, radiating herringbone fields, studded borders, corner scrolls, and repeating triangles. The same vocabulary wraps the sides and lid so the box reads as a small piece of architecture rather than a plain container.

Typical of Austrian export metalware from the years around the Vienna Secession—geometric, graphic, and tactile, closer to Hoffmann-era pattern than to earlier floral Art Nouveau. Functional hinged lid with original key still in the lock. Useful as a jewelry or trinket casket, desk box, or object on a shelf.

Stamped Austria on the underside. Dimensions: 7 in. wide × 6 in. deep × 5 in. high.

Wear consistent with age: honest surface patina, minor rubbing at high points.
